05 Sept 2020–13 Mar 2022
The exhibition LOVE STORIES unites favourite works of the museum staff from the past ten years. During this time, a lot has happened at SCHAUWERK: Between 2010 and 2020, a total of 30 group and solo exhibitions were realised. The carefully selected, individual works in LOVE STORIES offer an insight into the diversity of the Schaufler Collection.
Be enchanted by the public's favourite Mother as a Ship designed by the Indian artist Anish Kapoor. It consists of a fascinating hollow body covered with a deep black pigment layer. Nam June Paik's TV Cello, with its body made from screens, recalls the beginnings of media art. Norbert Kricke's spatial sculpture, for instance—with its simple, unpretentious line—unfolds an impressive presence in an exhibition space that only features white and black works. Russell Young's double portrait of Hollywood star Marylin Monroe, on the other hand, exudes a touch of glamour, while Yasumasa Morimura cheekily sticks out his tongue at the viewer in the guise of Albert Einstein. These artworks and other old friends are looking forward to seeing you again!
