In the new wing of the building – a former high bay warehouse that has been equipped with a circulating ramp –SCHAUWERK is presenting from October 1, 2011, parts of its extensive collection of photographic works. Alongside the big names of current German art photography – Andreas Gursky, Thomas Demand, Candida Höfer, Thomas Struth, Wolfgang Tillmans and Thomas Ruff – many works by artists from the international scene, such as Nobuyoshi Araki, Bettina Rheims, and Vanessa Beecroft, will also be shown. Besides many other works the exhibition also features Thomas Ruff, including his portrait series “blaue Augen” (blue eyes), six works by Wolfgang Tillmans, 69 photographs of painted flowers by the Japanese artist Nobuyoshi Araki, Bettina Rheims’ “Héroïnes” and Vanessa Beecroft’s photographic documentations of performances.
