SOME LIKE IT COOL

On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen presented a special show at art KARLSRUHE in 2014. Under the programmatic title SOME LIKE IT COOL, which described the collection’s aesthetic orientation, the exhibition presented highlights from the collection. On more than 350 square meters of floor space, not only were famous favorite works by Not Vital and Gary Webb on view but also treasures never before shown at the SCHAUWERK, including works by Jason Martin, Peter Halley, and Subodh Gupta. Of the roughly three thousand works of art currently part of the collection, twenty-five works were selected to illustrate the specific characteristics of our holdings. Cool shades, gleaming surfaces, and materials such as metal and mirrors characterize many of the works. For the SCHAUWERK and the Schaufler Collection, after all, it’s true: SOME LIKE IT COOL!
