A show of infinite, changing colour and light will be on display at SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen from March 13, 2016. As a floating light sculpture with a total height of fifteen meters, the light whirl fills the four-story exhibition space. The artist rosalie has created a walk-in sculpture of light exclusively for the former high-rise storage space, for which she has arranged a complex web of optical fibres.
Similar to a snow flake, fireball or giant sparkler, the light flows, flashes, runs from the inside to the outside or coalesces in the centre of the whirl, it explodes suddenly and flows back again. The unadorned architecture contrasts with the dynamic and seemingly organic structure of the lightwhirl. The sculpture also changes the perception: The white walls reflect the light as the room is immersed in a bath of changing colours. Moreover, the artwork is reflected on the shiny black floor. From different perspectives this poetic and emotionally experiential artwork takes the visitor on a sensual journey.
rosalie (b. 1953) is known for her large kinetic light sculptures, which were already on display at the ZKM | Karlsruhe, at the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig and many art biennales. With theatre and stage design projects, rosalie is also renowned internationally.
