The SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen presents the works of Austrian artist Sabrina Haunsperg (born 1980) in a solo exhibition, providing multifaceted insights into the artist’s work of the last ten years. Among the exhibited works are some that have come right from the studio and thus are presented publicly for the first time.
Haunsperg creates colourful, dynamic and mostly large-format paintings using a variety of techniques and materials. For this process, she attaches great importance to the use of high-quality paints, which she mixes according to traditional recipes. With full use of her physical strength, Haunsperg applies the paint with the brush, pen, spraygun or by pouring it onto the canvas. In the interaction of careful planning and a love for experimentation, numerous layers of superimposed fields, webs of colour and energetic colour explosions arise. These cast a spell over the viewer, captivating the beholder through the exciting relationship between image surface and image depth – all the while leaving room for diverse associations.
Sabrina Haunsperg studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2001 to 2008 with, among others, Helmut Federle, and was a master student of Herbert Brandl. She has received numerous prizes and awards. Haunsperg lives and works in Düsseldorf.
